David A. Taylor
David A. Taylor is the President and Chief Operating Officer of the University Center of Greenville, Inc. Taylor joined UCG in May 2011 as Chief Operating Officer, and assumed the role of President a few months later, after the retirement of the former president Dr. Fred Baus.
In his role, Taylor provides leadership for all University Center operations, including finance & administration, human resources, information systems & services, and operations. His vision is to develop a new strategic plan at the University Center and position the Organization for growth in regards to present and future initiatives
Taylor has extensive senior leadership experience in finance, accounting, operations, information systems & services, and supply chain management. Prior to joining the University Center, his 25-year career included division level and corporate leadership positions at NCR Corporation, Teradata, and AT&T. He received a Bachelor of Science degree in Finance from the University of Tennessee and has completed the Advanced Management College program at Stanford University. Taylor is also member of the Board of Governors for the Greenville, SC Chamber of Commerce.
Dr. Frederick Baus
Dr. Frederick Baus is the Chief Executive Officer, responsible for special projects and initiatives. Baus joined the University Center in 2006 as the President and CEO, and retired from the role of President in 2011 with the appointment of David A. Taylor.
Under his leadership, the University Center focused its mission with the metric of increasing the number of baccalaureate degree-holders in the Upstate community. He served as the Chair for the Higher Education Centers Task force, as appointed by the National Association for Consortium Leadership (ACL). Baus also received the Exemplary Service to Higher Education Award for 2008 from the South Carolina Association of Teacher Educators (SCATE).
Baus brought to UCG an outstanding background in the academic setting, with more than 25 years of managerial experience. He received a doctorate from Lehigh University, and has done post-doctoral research in Stanford's School of Education. His professional experience includes the position of chief staff officer for five difference consortia.
