Bachelor of Science: Political Science - Public Administration Emphasis
Political science focuses on the structure, process, and outcomes of politics and government. The programs include courses in the areas of American politics, comparative politics, international relations, political philosophy, methodology, public administration, public policy, and public law.
Goals and Objectives:
All students graduating from Lander University with a degree in political science will:
- attain a factual understanding in most of the generally-recognized areas of the discipline;
- be equipped with skills of political analysis;
- possess skills essential for success in careers related to political science;
- acquire skills and knowledge to enable them to be effective citizens; and
- exhibit their capacity to read retentively, to express their ideas in writing concisely and to express their ideas in speech precisely.

Lander offers a political science major with a public administration emphasis for students interested in working in local government or social service organizations. Students will also be prepared to pursue the Master’s Degree in Public Administration, the professional degree for government and non-profit administration.

Lander University at UCG offers classes leading to a bachelor’s degrees for working professionals. The courses offered at UCG are primarily at the junior and senior levels. Most freshman or sophomore-level courses may be taken through Greenville Technical College. Classes are offered in the evening and in the daytime to accommodate the varied schedules of non-traditional students.
