Bachelor of Arts in Information Management and Systems - Evening/Online Progression Program
The Bachelor of Arts in Information Management and Systems (IM&S) degree positions graduates at the forefront of information creation, acquisition, access, analysis, dissemination, and management. Nearly every department in every company or organization has information technology and information management needs. IM&S graduates learn skills suiting them for a choice between more technically-oriented jobs or more people-oriented jobs. IM&S is a multidisciplinary information technology degree integrating an understanding of computer, networking, and database technology, information technology, information processing practices, information resource administration, and the ability to relate technical systems and social/cultural structures (informatics). Courses emphasize basic quantitative and qualitative techniques, business functions, project management, effective communications skills, and proactive team interactions. Concentration areas allow student to focus on the application of technology in one of three fields: business, mass media and public relations, and health information management; or in a minor of the student’s choosing. There is no better degree allowing students to customize their program of study for a targeted career choice. IM&S graduates are highly valued in the job market, flexible, and portable among dozens of roles and job titles in an enterprise.
The IM&S program is ideal for working professionals because it can be completed without ever having to attend classes on the Spartanburg campus (although attending day and evening classes in Spartanburg is an option for students). Students will complete a combination of live courses taught in Greenville, online courses taught via the Internet, and transfer courses taught at Greenville Technical college or other institution.
