The Library has many online resources that are available to you and your students through the Internet and Telnet connections.

The Library offers an Internet Orientation class to students who have no experience or very little experience in searching the Internet and online databases.  If you would like to have an Internet class designed for the specific needs of your students, please let me know.  We can arrange a time and date to suit their schedule.

I would also be happy to make a brief visit to your class to tell your students about the resources of the Library and to explain how I can assist them in their research projects.  Just let me know if you would like for me to come.

Faculty Library Services Library / Media Center Services

The Library at the University Center is essentially a virtual library. It provides the following services:

Online Catalogs and Databases
Telnet-enabled and Web-based access to online catalogs of all member libraries are available. If a book is needed, it can be requested through interlibrary loan service and delivered to the Library. Articles can be faxed or sent through the Internet by way of Ariel application to the Library office. It usually takes 3-4 days for a book to arrive at the Library. An article can be picked up by the student who requests it the following day.

The Library also has local access to all the databases provided by the DISCUS project, Medline, Medline Plus, ERIC and Britannica Online.

Computers and Software:

The library has 52 workstations loaded with the following software:

• MS Office
  • Access
  • Excel
  • InfoPath
  • Outlook
  • PowerPoint
  • Publisher
  • Word
• Acrobat Reader
• Netscape Web Browser
• Quicktime
• Winzip

All computers are connected to printers. There are two black and white laser jet printers. Printing costs $.05 per page in the library. One scanner is available for for students and faculty.

Study Rooms

The Library has nine study rooms for students and faculty to use with seven rooms equipped with a TV and a VCR. A podium is also available upon request. Each study room comfortably seats approximately 10 people. They are available during the time that the Library is open. There is no need to reserve any of them.

 

Operating Hours

The Library is open 7 days a week. The hours are as follow:

Monday - Thursday	8:30 a.m. - 9:30 p.m
Friday	8:30 a.m. - 4:30 p.m.
Saturday	9:00 a.m. - 5:30 p.m.
Sunday	1:00 p.m. - 5:30 p.m.
